Luggage rules

General guidance for your trip. Exact allowances come from the carrier of your route.

Allowances are set by the carrier

Different carriers sell trips on the platform, and their luggage rules differ: weight, number of items and the price of extra luggage. Below is what most carriers follow. Check the carrier page for the exact terms or ask the carrier before the trip.

Carriers on the platform

What is usually included in the ticket

  • Hold luggage

A suitcase or travel bag in the luggage hold — usually one or two items per passenger.

  • Carry-on

A small bag or backpack you keep with you in the cabin.

  • Documents & valuables

Keep your passport, money, phone and laptop with you in the cabin at all times.

Extra and oversized luggage

Agree luggage above the allowance — a bicycle, a musical instrument or other bulky items — with the carrier in advance; their contacts are on the carrier page.

An extra item may be paid and is taken subject to free space in the hold, so it is best to mention it when booking.

What cannot be carried

  • Weapons, ammunition, explosives and pyrotechnics.
  • Flammable, toxic and corrosive liquids.
  • Items with a strong odour or that may stain other passengers’ luggage.
  • Bulky items that do not fit in the hold, unless agreed in advance.
  • Animals without prior agreement with the carrier — each carrier has its own pet rules.

Tips for the road

  • Label your luggage — a name and phone number help if suitcases get mixed up.
  • Take valuables and fragile items into the cabin, not the hold.
  • Spotted damage after the trip? Tell the driver right away, before the bus leaves.
  • Weigh your luggage at home if the carrier specifies a weight limit.
